The wonder of biodiversity is brought to young children by Haribon’s Outdoor Playschool program. It sparks their love for biodiversity and motivates them to initiate positive actions for the environment at an early age.
The program introduces 6 to 9 year-old children to nature through games and activities in backyards and parks to develop within them the knowledge and a better appreciation of biodiversity.
In 2014, C.R.E.A.T.E. Pre-school Inc. and Mead Johnson Nutrition Co, (MJN) sponsored an outdoor activity for 75 toddlers who enjoyed nature exploration play where they enjoyed using the “Agimata” to view the natural world in a new perspective: comparing bark skins, counting an insect’s legs, and observing the different shades of soil clump .
In 2015, through a Macquarie sponsorship, children learned how to take care of the tulibas tilos seedling, the Philippine version of the lime berry, given to them during a seed potting session. One child exclaimed that she joined a “tree planting activity with her mom at last,” while another quipped “…it’s the best day of my life!”
